Caudalie, pioneer in Vinothérapie®
The Caudalie Marques de Riscal spa is the sixth spa to be opened by the French cosmetic brand. The original spa is located in Chateau Smith Haut Laffite (1999) where the story of Caudalie began. It was there that Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas met Professor Vercauteren and his team of researchers from the Bordeaux School of Pharmacy. During that first encounter Professor Vercauteren revealed to Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas that the grape-seeds being discarded by the Chateau after the wine harvest were in fact a veritable goldmine. Grape seeds contain polyphenols which, once stabilized, are the most effective anti-oxidants from the plant word. They are far more powerful than Vitamins E and C in the fight against free radicals (The environmental elements which are responsible for 80 % of skin aging). A new door in anti-aging cosmetic treatments had been opened and for the first time in dermocosmetics, stabilized grape-seed polyphenols were used!
The second Caudalie Vinothérapie® spa was opened in the Piedmont region of northern Italy in 2002. Caudalie plans to open its seventh spa this November at the New York, New Plaza hotel.
